NOT JUST A CHEF, A MOVEMENT
A journey built on resilience, identity and breaking barriers.
Deaf. Proud. Unapologetic.
Deaf. Proud. Unapologetic. isn’t just a slogan.
It’s a statement.
A belief that disability should never be a barrier to success.
Through television, food festivals, workshops and community projects, Punk Chef uses food to challenge perceptions, create opportunities and inspire the next generation.
THE JOURNEY
Becoming deaf at the age of two following meningitis, Scott grew up in a world where many people focused on what he couldn’t do.
He chose a different path.
Driven by determination, creativity and a passion for food, Scott built a career proving that barriers are made to be broken.
From professional kitchens and international competitions to television screens, festival stages and live audiences across the UK, Punk Chef has spent more than 15 years using food to challenge perceptions, inspire others and champion deaf representation.
TELEVISION & MEDIA
From national television to digital media, Punk Chef uses food, storytelling and deaf representation to challenge perceptions and inspire audiences.
Scott Garthwaite, better known as Punk Chef, became one of the first deaf chefs to front mainstream food television. Through his television series Punk Chef and Punk Chef on the Road, he has demonstrated that talent, creativity and determination are never limited by disability.
His work has featured across television, documentaries, interviews, podcasts and digital platforms, including appearances with the BBC, Channel 4 and other leading media organisations.
Whether in front of the camera, behind the scenes or speaking to audiences worldwide, Scott uses food as a platform to promote inclusion, deaf awareness and opportunity.
Today, Punk Chef continues to work with broadcasters, production companies, podcasts, brands and social media campaigns to share stories that inspire, educate and break barriers.
Food is the message. Inclusion is the language.
LIVE STAGE & FESTIVALS
From local community events to major food festivals, Punk Chef has spent more than a decade demonstrating that food has the power to bring people together and break down barriers.
As one of the world’s best-known deaf chefs, Scott has delivered live cooking demonstrations, masterclasses and keynote appearances across the UK, Europe, Japan and the United States. His events combine professional culinary skills, storytelling and humour to create experiences that educate, entertain and inspire.
A career highlight came at Ludlow Food Festival, where Scott became one of the first deaf chefs to take centre stage at one of the UK’s most respected food events. Since then, he has appeared at major festivals including Cheltenham Food & Drink Festival, Forest Showcase and numerous national events, performing in front of audiences ranging from intimate workshops to thousands of spectators.
Whether on a festival stage, in a theatre, at a corporate event or within the deaf community, every appearance carries the same message:
Talent has no barriers.
Food is the language. Inclusion is the message.
