MAKING FOOD ACCESSIBLE FOR EVERYONE: COLLABORATE WITH TESCOS REAL FOOD

Food should be for everyone.
As a deaf chef, accessibility has always been something I care deeply about. Throughout my career, I’ve seen how simple changes can make a huge difference in helping more people enjoy cooking, build confidence in the kitchen, and feel included.
That’s why I was proud to collaborate with Tesco as part of their commitment to making recipes more accessible through the Tesco Real Food platform.
Breaking Down Barriers in the Kitchen
Tesco’s “Now We’re Cooking” collection has reimagined some of their most popular recipes to make them easier to follow and more accessible for a wider range of people.
The project includes:
Shorter, clearer recipe steps
Precise cooking times and instructions
Accessible cooking tips
Audio versions of recipes
Screen-reader compatible formats
Braille and alternative accessible formats
The aim is simple: remove barriers and make cooking more enjoyable for everyone.
My Contribution
As part of this initiative, I worked with Tesco to create accessible recipe content for the Tesco Real Food website.
Being involved in a project that puts inclusion at the centre of food is something that aligns closely with my own values and mission.
Food is more than just eating.
Everyone deserves access to great recipes and the opportunity to enjoy cooking without unnecessary barriers.
Accessibility Matters
This work is particularly meaningful to me because accessibility is something I live every day.
After becoming deaf at the age of two following meningitis, I’ve spent my career challenging assumptions about what deaf people can achieve in professional kitchens, on television, and within the food industry.
Seeing major organisations like Tesco investing in accessible content is a positive step forward and one I hope encourages others across the industry to do the same.

Together, we can help make food, cooking and recipes accessible to everyone.
Food is the language. Inclusion is the message.
Deaf. Proud. Unapologetic.
